What is Leeds Beer Tours?

Leeds Beer Tours is a one-person company that specialises in multi-award winning guided tours and experiences around Leeds, United Kingdom. The tours started in Spring 2019.

What tours and experiences do you offer?

Who runs the tours?

Leeds Beer Tours is run by Mike Hampshire (me!). I am professionally trained by the Beer and Cider Academy, the Secretary for the British Guild of Beer Writers and a former Chair for the Leeds Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). I have also ran a pub and helped run a micro brewery. Occasionally I have some help to run the tours from fellow guides Katie and David.


How do I book onto a tour or experience?

To book, visit the Tours webpage and click on the experience you would like to book. Each experience has an availability calendar; simply choose your preferred date and time, enter your details, confirm the number of tickets you would like, pay, and you will receive your tickets via email.

Do you do private group tours?

Yes, private group tours are available, for group sizes of 6 or more. This is ideal for those who want a private tour with family, friends or colleagues. Visit the Private Tours webpage, where private group bookings can be requested.

Do I need to print my tickets to show the guide?

Your guide will take the name on the booking when you arrive for an experience. However, just in case please bring your ticket with you. They can either be shown digitally on your smartphone or printed.

What is your capacity?

For the tours, there is a capacity of 10 people, plus the tour guide. This maximum number is flexible for private booking requests. Visit the Private Tours webpage for more details.

Is there a minimum number of people to be able to make a booking?

To avoid cancellations, for the first booking of every tour, a minimum of two people are required. Once that minimum has been met, then individual tickets will become available. If you are booking for one person and can't book the tour date you would like, please choose another date, or try again later.

My plans have changed, can I change my booking?

Email with your booking details, which date you would like to change to and I will do my best to accommodate. You may be charged a fee for the change. You can find out more details on this on the Terms and Conditions webpage.

Can I get a refund?

This depends on how soon you cancel before the experience is due to take place. You can find out more details on this on the Terms and Conditions webpage.

What happens if an experience is postponed or cancelled?

In the event of postponement or cancellation, I will contact you to explain your options. These options may include refund, re-booking and/or replacing your ticket with a Gift Card. You can find out more details on this on the Terms and Conditions webpage.


Can I buy gift cards from you?

Yes, visit the Gift Cards webpage. Gift cards must be redeemed before the expiry date. You can either buy gift cards for an entire tour, or monetary value cards that will discount the price of a tour. Please note cards may not be redeemable against all tours available, please check the relevant tour listing and gift card description for details.

How do I redeem a gift card?

If your gift card was purchased before 10th March 2023, or was purchased via Uniquely Local, UK Brewery Tours, Concierge Black, Virgin Experiences or Experience Days:


Choose your preferred available date & time from the availability calendar of the tour that your gift card is for. The calendar can be found by visiting the relevant tour from the Tours webpage. Then, email that information, along with your name, mobile phone number and gift card code(s) to

If your gift card was purchased after 10th March 2023:

Please book your tour by visiting the Tours webpage and enter your gift card code at the checkout.

Your booking must be made before the Gift Card expires.

I am having trouble redeeming a gift card

If you need help with redeeming a gift card, please email with your gift card details and the tour you are trying to book onto.

My gift card is about to expire, can I extend it?

If you have a gift card for a full tour, please email with your gift card details to enquire.

If you have a monetary value card, this cannot be extended.



What drinks are included?

Some tours include drinks in the ticket price, please visit the relevant Tour listing on the Tours webpage to find out more.


What if I have certain dietary requirements?

Please email or let your guide know about this. Gluten-free, vegan-friendly and alcohol-free requests can be accommodated.


If I need to, how can I contact you on the day of an experience?

Your tickets include a contact phone number, please ring this.


What else do I need to know?

Leeds Beer Tours operates a Code of Conduct which all participants are expected to adhere to. This includes things like a ban on costume dress, treating others with respect, and not accepting guests who are under the influence of alcohol.


Are children allowed?

All experiences are over-18 only, unless otherwise stated.


What about my babe in arms?

Babes in arms are also excluded from experiences, unless otherwise stated.


Can I bring my pet?

Service animals are welcome. For others, please email with details of the pet you would like to bring. Although venues may be pet friendly, for the comfort of other guests they will be consulted first.

I'm going to have some luggage with me, is there somewhere that I can leave it during the tour?

Leeds Beer Tours has partnered with Bounce to offer tour guests a discount when using their luggage storage service. Please send an email to for the code.
