Code of Conduct

Last updated: March 14, 2024

For the enjoyment and safety of all our tour participants, guides, and other people encountered as part of a tour, Tours of Leeds operates a code of conduct.

The code below is written with guided tour guests in mind, however the principles of this code also apply to guests of self-guided audio tour experiences.

Summary

  • Treat others with respect.

  • Discrimination will not be tolerated.

  • No fancy dress.

  • Do not turn up to a tour under the influence of alcohol.

  • Illegal substances will not be tolerated.

Treat Others with Respect

When participating in a tour, participants become a representative of Tours of Leeds. Participant behaviour, therefore, can influence the reputation of Tours of Leeds. As such, all participants are expected to act in a well-behaved manner and to treat others they encounter with respect.

For guided tours, at the discretion of the guide, if a participant is deemed to be behaving in a way that upsets others and/or damages the reputation of Tours of Leeds they will be asked to leave the tour. Participants who are asked to leave will not be offered a refund.

Discrimination

It is extremely important that tours are a safe and enjoyable experience for all. As such, Tours of Leeds will not accept any form of discrimination on any grounds including, but not limited to, gender, sexuality, race, religion or belief, social class, health, age, or disability.

During a guided tour, if a participant feels unsafe at any point, please alert the guide immediately who will move the participant to a safe space and ensure their well-being.

If a tour participant is behaving in a discriminatory way towards other people, then they will be asked to leave the tour. Participants who are asked to leave will not be offered a refund.

Any offence may be reported to the Police.

No Fancy Dress

Groups celebrating special occasions are welcome, however due to some venue requirements, fancy dress cannot be worn during tours.

Any participant who arrives on a tour in fancy dress will be asked to change into something more suitable and can re-join the group afterwards. Participants who choose not to re-join the tour do so of their own accord and will not be offered a refund.

Under the Influence of Alcohol

If a participant arrives at a tour under the influence of alcohol and the guide feels that this risks the safety and enjoyment of others, the participant will be asked to leave the tour and will not be offered the opportunity to re-join later. Any participants removed from a tour for this reason will not be offered a refund.

Illegal Substances

Any participants caught in possession of, or using, what the guide suspects to be an illegal substance will be asked to leave the tour. If this occurs in a venue, the venue will also be notified. Any offence may be reported to the Police. Any participants removed from a tour for this reason will not be offered a refund.
