I can exclusively reveal that planning permission has been approved for a new brewery and taproom in Leeds. Having worked closely with Leeds City Council and Otley Parish Council, Shadow Brewing will be opening their own premises in 98 Boroughgate, Otley. It will be the first of its kind in the area.
Work will be started shortly, and it is tentatively scheduled for the new brewery and taproom to open this Summer, after a small number of trial events.
Shadow Brewing has only recently turned two years old and owner Ian Shutt had this to say about the news.
“We had a really good first year but the last 12 months have given us the opportunity to step back and look at what we want to achieve, and the taproom project has been a really interesting one.
“It will be fantastic to be able to serve our range of beers and other local produce to the people of Otley and beyond.
“When we do fully open, we will also be holding events to support the community. One focus will be around mental health as I don’t think anyone will come out of the pandemic the same as they went in" said Ian.
Plans submitted for the new brewery and taproom indicate people will be able to enjoy drinks just a stone's throw away from where the beer is made.
Shadow Brewing's previous beers have included Ghost a 4% ABV American pale ale, Brut IPA at 6.5% ABV and Spectre a 5.8% ABV IPA.
